Artwork proofs show your design before we make it
An artwork proof is a digital mock-up of your personalised item. It lets you check spelling, layout, placement, and overall design before we engrave, print, or embroider your order.
What is an artwork proof?
An artwork proof is a preview prepared by our team showing how your text, graphics, logo, photo, or personalisation will be arranged on the finished item. It is a checking step before production, not the finished product itself.
Most product pages already show a preview or clearly explain where your personalisation will go. An artwork proof is useful when the layout is more detailed, the item is especially important, or you want to review the final arrangement before production starts.
Once your proof is ready, we email you and add it to your order inside your CustomKings Account. You can then view it, accept it, or request changes.

- Log in to your CustomKings Account
- Go to Orders
- Select the order number that has the artwork proof
- Scroll to the artwork proof section on the order page
- Choose Accept if everything is correct, or request changes if something needs adjusting

Why is it a paid service?
Most items can be checked using the product page tools and order confirmation details. For more complex designs, the proof service covers the extra design time needed to prepare and manage the preview.
Customers who do not need proofs are not subsidising those who do. You only pay for the extra review step if you choose it.
Creating a detailed mock-up and handling feedback requires focused time from our team before production can begin.
Proofs are most useful for multi-line layouts, logos, photo work, corporate orders, milestone gifts, or designs where placement is critical.
- Spelling and grammar: Names, dates, messages, and punctuation
- Text readability: Font choice, size, and line spacing
- Placement: Position, alignment, and overall balance
- Artwork quality: Logos, graphics, or photos look clear enough for production
- Details: Order number, product, colour, and personalisation match what you expected
It is worth asking someone else to look over the proof too. Fresh eyes often catch small mistakes.
Artwork proof help
How will I know my proof is ready
We send an email when your artwork proof is ready to view in your CustomKings Account. If you are expecting a proof and cannot see the email, check your spam or junk folder.
Where is the artwork proof in my account
Log in to your account, go to Orders, then select the relevant order number. The artwork proof appears on the order page when it is ready.
What happens when I accept the proof
Accepting the proof tells our team the design is approved and ready for production. We then make your personalised item based on the accepted proof.
Can I request changes
Yes. If something needs adjusting, use the request changes option on the proof. Be specific so our team knows exactly what to update.

- Mention spelling, layout, sizing, or placement clearly
- Submit all changes together where possible
How many revisions are included
Up to three revisions are included. If you request multiple changes at once, such as bigger text and a different font, that counts as one revision.
What is not included in the proof service
The fee covers preparing a mock-up of your requested personalisation. It does not include full graphic design work such as:
- Logo recreation or vectorisation
- Drawing new characters or symbols
- Creating a complete design from scratch
- Converting photos into outline art
Those jobs require separate design time beyond standard proofing.
When should I order a proof
Proofs are best for complex layouts, logos, multiple lines of text, high-value gifts, milestone orders, corporate orders, or any design where precise placement matters. For simple items, such as one name on a keychain, the product page preview is usually enough.
Can I cancel after receiving a proof
If your proof has been prepared, design time has already been spent on your order. Cancellation may incur fees in line with our Refunds and returns policy.
Does proofing affect production time
Yes. Production is paused while we wait for your acceptance or change request. The faster you review the proof, the faster your order can move into production.
