How to Look After Your Board
Timber is a natural product, so you need to treat it properly if you want it to last. Do not just chuck it in the dishwasher. A bit of basic care goes a long way:
- Hand wash only with warm, soapy water. Never leave it soaking in the sink.
- Dry it off immediately with a tea towel rather than letting it sit wet.
- Treat the wood regularly with a food-safe oil or conditioner to stop it drying out and cracking.
- If you want to keep the engraving looking perfect, do your heavy chopping on the blank side and use the engraved side for serving or display.
