How to Scan a Spotify Code

Spotify codes are basically little shortcuts to your favourite songs, playlists, and podcasts. You’ll find one on every CustomKings Spotify product, whether it’s a plaque, a keyring, or an album cover print. All you need is your phone and the Spotify app. That’s it. Let’s get into it.
5 Simple Steps
From opening the app to hearing your song. Takes about a minute.
Check You’re Connected to the Internet
First things first. Make sure your phone has Wi-Fi or mobile data switched on. Spotify needs an internet connection to look up the code. No connection means no music, unfortunately.
Open Up Spotify
Find the Spotify app on your phone or tablet and open it. If you haven’t got it yet, it’s free on the App Store and Google Play. You’ll need to be logged in, so if you don’t have an account, it only takes a sec to make one.
Tap the Search Tab
Down the bottom of your screen there’s a row of icons. Tap the magnifying glass 🔍 to open the Search page. Don’t type anything in though, we’re not searching the old-fashioned way today.
Tap the Camera Icon
Up in the top right corner of the search page, you’ll see a little camera icon. Give it a tap. This opens your phone camera so it can read Spotify codes. If it asks for permission to use your camera, just hit allow.
Point Your Camera at the Code
This is the good bit. Hold your phone over the Spotify code on your product, keep it steady, and make sure there’s decent light. The app picks it up in a second or two and takes you straight to the song, playlist, or podcast. Hit play and you’re done!
A Few Handy Tips

Not Scanning?
Check the lighting and make sure the code isn’t too small or blurry. A quick wipe of the surface and a bit more light usually sorts it out.
Share It Around
Once your song is playing, share it with your mates straight from Spotify. Good music is always better when the people around you are hearing it too.
