Choosing the right logo to be engraved for corporate gift-giving

05 Feb 2024

We understand it can be hard to choose the right logo to engrave, so our team has made a handy guide below to help you get the quickest turnaround and best result for your corporate gift-giving.

Your logo should be black and white only, this ensures only the black will be engraved and the finished gift will meet your expectations. Multicoloured logos, greyscale or monochrome logos can result in a finish that is not desirable and can often cause extra engraving that you did not intend. Below is an example of each to give you a better idea of each colour type.

Each logo file should be a vector version if possible, this allows your logo to be resized to any size. An easy way to tell if an image is raster or vector is to increase its size. If the image becomes blurred or pixelated, it’s most likely a raster file. With vector image files, resolution is not an issue. You can resize, rescale, and reshape vectors infinitely without losing image quality. Vector files are popular for images that need to appear in a wide variety of sizes, like a logo that needs to fit on both a business card and a billboard.

A common question our team gets asked is if we can engrave logos such as Jack Daniels, Disney or other well-known brands. A golden rule of thumb in Australia is if you didn’t pay for the logo creation or obtain the rights by the person who did then it is not able to be used by yourself. This means we can not do the Disney logo unless you gain written permission from the Disney corporation.

Another question our team gets asked frequently is about photo engraving in place of a logo. As photos can not be black and white we are unable to offer photo engraving on our products. The time required to make this work goes against our core ethics of offering a reasonably priced service with a quick turnaround from our Local Australian Small Business.
